As with most of Docklands, regeneration is the key word here. In the area and its surroundings, new apartment blocks can be seen cropping up everywhere. This is mainly spurned on by the amazing transport links that Canning Town has such as the DLR and Jubilee line which give direct access to central London or Stratford in either direction in a matter of minutes.
The regeneration and the building isn’t just willy nilly in Canning Town, there is a plan which will see £1.7 billion invested in the area to build a completely new infrastructure with housing and businesses that go along with it by forming a new high street on Silvertown Way.
As it stands at the moment, Canning Town is just north of the Royal Docks which offer a taste of London’s industrial past and leisure pursuits such as sailing and waterside bars and cafés. This area is also home to the international ExCeL conference centre.
Already a nice place to live, with the heavy investment going in over the next few years, Canning Town will be a something special to behold in the near future.
